A Different Perspective

Description

"This city...is so much different from my home city. So full of other creatures who do not connect with nature in the same way as my own kind. A place like this-
This machinery, electricity, and smog. To the others, it chokes everything natural and destroys all that was old and pure. They can not connect to this place, no matter their attempts to reform their thoughts, because in the end they can not make themselves acknowledge the corner that we have turned. They can not acknowledge our race itself as it evolves, even when a growing amount of individuals are born with these new attributes to fit the new world.
They do not see. See that it is nature changing.
I still sense the elements here, in diverse forms. They claim it is artificial, but everything used was derived from nature originally. The air, rancid with chemicals but whistling past the architecture. The rock in the cement, the iron in the molded railings. The trees and plants in their assorted enclosures, their fibers formed into paper and food. The waterways coursing beneath the street's feet and feeding into every building. The ice in every freezer and pavement during winter. The fire and energy in the engines and lights. The glaring lights, which create shadows in their wake...

...Shadow...it never changes. It is the only constant. As long as something exists in the light, there will be shadow. It will never leave entirely. Always be nearby. Always be what it is - a flickering copy of another entity.
Shadows are from the absence of light, so most reason that this is what shadows are. But again, they do not see.
Shadow.
Shadow is proof that light exists."

A glimpse into Ligos' thoughts again. He does this often, mulling over his situation and cementing his own philosophies into his mind, all the while distancing himself from contact with others so he won't be forced into socialization with the people he thinks about. Heh, in a way he kind of develops himself, especially when he thinks about the details of his element.

A while back I realized how ironic it was that the Alemea - these elementals with such strong connections to nature - were living in Degamin. Degamin's an industrialized city, with a lot of man-made things that today is kind of viewed as the result of nature's destruction. It's a lot different from Kychehs (The capital of the Alemea's home country), an old city made from practically raw materials, with hardly any motorized vehicles or anything else "modern".
Then, it just kind of came together that although everything in Degamin wasn't directly from nature, or even in the consideration of preserving nature, the elements the Alemea were modeled after were still there, albeit somewhat modified. Even the pollution - by-products of industry such as vehicle waste - were compounds found in the natural world as well, such as carbon dioxide and methane gases. :)

Just kind of a different view on large cities. It's more his opinion than mine, ehehe.
A practice with lineless again, this time I'm a little more pleased with it.
Sorry, long description is long.
